Built keeps your logs on your device. There is no account and no server-side copy of your profile or logs. Two things leave your device: what you send to the AI features (described below, including the summary of your profile and logs the coach uses), and your email address if you choose to have your plan emailed to you.
There are no user accounts. You never create a login, and we never ask for a phone number or any other identifier. We only ask for an email address if you choose to have your plan emailed to you — see below.
Your profile, logs, and photos are stored locally on your device. We keep no server-side copy of them. Deleting the app or clearing its data permanently removes this information; we cannot recover it.
On iPhone you can connect Built to Apple Health. If you do, we read your height, weight, body-fat percentage, biological sex and date of birth (to work out your age), and your active calories and steps, to set your calories and macros; and your resting heart rate, heart-rate variability and sleep, to judge how recovered you are before a session. We write your weight check-ins and logged meals back so your other health apps stay in step, and the Built Apple Watch app reads your heart rate and active calories during a session and saves it to Health as a workout. You choose which of these Health grants when iOS asks, and you can withdraw any of them at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Health data is read on your device and stored on your device. It is never sent to our servers or to the AI provider, never used for advertising or marketing, never sold or shared with anyone, and never used for any purpose other than the coaching you asked for. Values that came from Health are left out of everything the AI features send; if you type a value in yourself, it is yours and is treated like the rest of your profile.
Subscriptions are bought through the App Store (or Google Play on Android); Apple or Google handles the payment and we never see your card. We use RevenueCat to check which subscription you have: it receives your purchase history and an anonymous ID the app creates for this purpose, and nothing else about you. Built contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not sell, share, or broker your data.
Some links in the app to other companies — for example the recommended gear on Amazon and meal delivery companies — may be affiliate links or come with a promo code, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them. Opening one is an ordinary visit to that company's site: no personal or health data from the app is sent with it.
If you enter your email address to receive your plan, we store that address together with the app you use, your goal, your program name, your sex if you entered it yourself, whether you agreed to receive tips and offers, and the date. We use it to send you your plan and — only if you ticked the box — occasional tips and offers, each with an unsubscribe link. The email is sent through our email provider (Resend). We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Ask us at rockpros@gmail.com and we will delete it.
The AI features work by sending what you give them to our AI provider (Anthropic, or OpenAI as a fallback) to generate a result. This happens only when you use the feature:
This data is processed in transit to produce the response. We do not store it, we keep no record linking it to you, and under our providers' commercial API terms it is not used to train their models. All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
